TTG Simpleviewer
Back in May 2007, malcontent to let Aperture users have all the fun, and hot on the heels of my my first LR web engine, I developed a web engine for Airtight Interactive’s SimpleViewer. Sometime thereafter, Adobe took it upon themselves to make their own Simpleviewer engine, now included in all Lightroom installations.
In addition to the options found in Adobe’s Airtight SimpleViewer gallery, distributed with Lightroom, TTG SimpleViewer features the following options:
- Gallery description support
- Watermarks
- Gallery background image
- hAlign and vAlign settings
- Separate controls for stage and navigation padding
- Output sharpening
- Auto-index enabled for TTG XML Auto Index
TTG SimpleViewer
TTG Simpleviewer is a free download.

Download TTG Simpleviewer 1.9, the last version to work with Lightroom 1.x. Cross-reference the Changelog, below, to see which LR2.x features are missing.

You are a star! Thank you.
: )
AMAZING!
question: is there any way to change where captions appear? i find that in certain configurations (with thumbnails at the bottom, for example, captions don’t appear at all….
Hi Karol,
Not an option in the free version of Simpleviewer, but might be something you can affect using Flash in Simpleviewer Pro. I’d suggest reading up on the Pro version at http://www.airtightinteractive.com.
Just grabbed the simple viewer..works great…questions:
1. When I save my settings as a User Template the sharpening tick box does not stay ticked and I have to re-tick it each time I set up a new set of images…glitch or by design?
2. When processing RAW files into the JPEGS (750 pixels long) it seems to chunk along forever…glitch or just my computer!?
3. Any way to modify titles and such to put line breaks so I can have things on two distinct lines or break the lines where I want? e.g.
PICTURES XYZ
January 2009
instead of
PICTURES XYX, January 20009
Thanks!
Chris
Hi Chris,
1. The Output Sharpening issue seems to be a bug in Lightroom.
2. I think that’s also Lightroom.
3. Using HTML galleries, there is a trick you can use for this. In Flash, however, I don’t think it can be done.
Cheers,
Matt
Nice engine, i’ve added it in my LR…
Note : the “Forum Thread” link is dead.
Thanks !
Eric
How can I add a “HOME” button ?
Thanks
Manos
Embed Simpleviewer into TTG Stage.
i dont know what that means Embed Simpleviewer into TTG Stage.
how does that get you a home button?
http://donaldbowers.com/index.html
you can see my simple viewer looks great…but i dont understand how to put the home button in….
I see you’ve successfully embedded a PostcardViewer gallery into your Home page using TTG Pages. TTG Stage functions in exactly the same way. Design your embed page (a.k.a. stage) and export; export Simpleviewer gallery separately. Combine folders according to the instructions shown in the TTG Stage preview.
Matt:
Some viewers who go to look at my galleries and are using small screen resolutions (eg 800×600) can NOT see the captions that appear under the thumbnail images NOR can they scroll down in their windows. Thus they can not see the image numbers that I usually have appear in the caption area (which they need for ordering). What is the minimum screen resolution that people need to properly see the gallery? Alternatively any idea why the viewer does not allow them to scroll down? In the web URL I provided (www.cjscons.com/jrbraves) click on a thumbnail and it will take you to the gallery for that game and you can perhaps see what I mean depending on your resolution.
THanks for your help.
Chris
@Chris Stewart
Simpleviewer contains no scaling mechanism, and it looks to me that you’ve really piled the content in there. With so many rows and columns of thumbnails, it’s no wonder there isn’t room.
One thing you can do to better control the size of your gallery is embed it into TTG Stage. You can then set your stage at particular dimensions, and with some trial and error design around that size.
Alternatively, have you tried TTG Highslide Gallery Pro? It’s selection gallery features would make it easier to collect selects for orders, or you could try using some of the e-commerce functions to process transactions online.
HI there, thanks for this plugin!!
I have a question though , when you select the image size, I have 600×400 it scales down landscape orientation photos correctly, and they are showed correctly, but vertically oriented images have problems. They are correctly scaled to 400 pixels high, but then when they are displayed they are stretched horizontally to fill the frame, hence chopping the top and bottom off and distorting the image because they are zoomed in. Any ideas?
By the way, i should maybe have mentioned that this was with the compact gallery style.
I’ll look into it.
